Sub-tropical humid loving species with red legs
The ultimate beginner Amblypygid thrives in humid conditions; maintain humidity levels at no less than 65% and temperatures between 75-80°F. Room temperature alone is insufficient; you will need hygrometers and a controlled heat source. Adults can be housed in a 4x4x8 enclosure. Although this may seem small, it is suitable for this smaller species. With proper humidity levels, this species flourishes in captivity. While they don't require much living space, ample hiding spots are crucial for their comfort. Unlike jumping spiders, Amblypygids are very shy and typically avoid hand feedings. We've had limited success with controlled feedings for any Amblypygid. If you prefer hand-feeding your invertebrates, consider our Uropygi, which readily accept pre-killed prey from tongs without fuss.
This species showcases a remarkable resilience to arid conditions, yet thrives best in moist environments. To ensure their well-being, we strongly recommend maintaining a humidity level above 65%. Often found near riverbeds, and sometimes even nestled under rocks submerged in water, this creature has an innate affinity for humid climates. Embracing these conditions is essential for their prosperity, mirroring the lush, water-rich habitats they naturally inhabit.
